García Lorca was a cosmopolitan author. He travelled around Spain, visited many spanish cities and lived in some of them. He also travelled through Europe and he lived in New York and La Habana (1929-1930). He said his stay in New York was one of his most important and useful experience in his life. He knew there Manhattan’s misery and glory, its sexual freedom and its dancing, theatre and musical world.
Based on this stay, he wrote one of his most famous collection of poems, where he talks us about the modern metropolis, capitalism’s cruelty, consumerism…
Do you think this stay in USA was decisive in his following work? In which aspects? Do you think that being a well-travelled author improve his work? On the contrary way, is a no travelled author able to produce a high-quality work as Lorca did?
