As we have learned previously, Lorca was interested in Irish writer Oscar Wilde’s life and work (1854-1900), who passed away in Paris, after a painful and public legal proceeding related to his sexual identity.
Oscar Wilde and García Lorca were not understood by society because of their sexual preference. Both were interested in arts and died before their time; Wilde’s death and Lorca’s murder interrupted their lives and work. Both authors wrote about strong women or characters who do not act according to moral rules.
What do you think about their parallel lives? Have you ever read Wilde’s works? Do you think their identities and life experiences marked their works?
