Federico García Lorca and flamenco

Federico García Lorca and flamenco

de Francisco Jesús Guardia Cano - Número de respuestas: 0

Federico García Lorca was an expert in music. In fact, he was a musician because he was a great pianist. He knew about this topic and wrote many works related to music and flamenco. He titled many poems with names from the world of music (suites, song…). As time goes by, his interest about general music turned to great interest about flamenco, Andalucian people’s real expression of music. So, flamenco inundates his work, for example the books of poems Poema del cante jondo and Romancero gitano. We can realise Lorca’s deep knowledge about flamenco in his speeches “Arquitectura del cante jondo” and “Juego y teoría del duende”. In the first lecture, García Lorca did an anthropological study about the origin of cante jondo and his evolution to flamenco.
