In addition to his facet as a writer and musician, Lorca often practised drawing, in fact, he accompanied many of his works with some illustrations. Moreover, Lorca made drawings of Poeta en Nueva York and Poemas en prosa, which he considered as two different artistic languages, poetry and drawing, on the same subject.
