Nowadays, those modern roads climbing up to the heights of Sierra Nevada have very little to do with its counterparts, not long ago. We know of true odysseys in the past, including those amazing trips and explorations accomplished by romantic travelers and scientists back in the XIXth cent, sometimes even at the risk of their lives.
However, there is no need to go too far back in time to find traces of very bumpy/twisty/funny roads. Here you have a example of the one driving into Pórtugos, in the Alpuxarras, courtesy of our colleague Roberto Travesí.
It was taken in December the 31th, 1954. By the way, note the level of deforestation that is evident, before those great interventions that would be undertaken later, as we shall see in Modules 3 and 4.
