Test set

A subset of all the original data, which is completely independent of the training set, that is used to validate the learning of a new model created through a machine learning algorithm.

Training or Adjustment

The learning phase of creating a model through a machine learning algorithm.

Training set

A subset of all the original data specifically used to train a new model created through a machine learning algorithm.

Transaction

Instance of a dataset.

Transactions

In reference to association rules, transactions refer to the elements of the rows of a data set. This would be the equivalent of instances in the case of regression or classification techniques.

Transcriptomics

Discipline focused on studying the expression of all the RNA molecules present in a cell or collection of cells under specific circumstances.
